  • The effects of stress. If you feel stressed, what is one of the most common ways you react? You eat, or you drink, or perhaps both! Stress makes your body want to horde calories and turns off your digestive system. By developing  ways of reducing stress you can see a great change in your ability to lose weight and keep it off.
  • Feeling good about yourself. While we do not pretend to be psychologists, how you feel about yourself is an important part of setting and achieving the right weight loss goals. 

You will be asked to create action plans to reduce stress, you may be asked to carry out a simple test at home to detect potential thyroid problems and further goals will be set for the next two weeks.

Other weighty topics which may be covered at this stage include:

  • Neurotransmitter deficiency and its effects on the body
  • 'Functional' foods which help to address specific symptoms
  • Developing the right eating habits

Top Research Group Proves Our Approach Works

This new approach to weight loss has been endorsed by the latest research from the Cochrane Collaboration, released on 18th July 2007. The research studied 202 patients, some of whom were given a low GL diet while others remained on a standard eating plan. Here are the authors’ key findings:

“The overweight or obese people on the low GL diet lost more weight than those receiving standard diets. Body mass index and cholesterol decreased significantly more in the low GL group.

In comparing low GL diets to restricted calorie low-fat diets, participants fared as well or better on the low GL diet, even though they could eat as much as desired. It's around this time in the programme that you will see why there can be no 'One Size Fits All' solution to weight loss. As you progress through the programme your symptoms will change so the plan needs to evolve.

From time to time we will review the symptoms you are experiencing and compare them to those you described at your initial consultation. Based on how things may have changed, it may be suggested that you re-introduce certain foods to your diet. Goals are set for the next two weeks, and you will be asked to complete another one week diet and exercise diary.   

The final scheduled session of your programme starts with a review of your key measurements - weight, waist and hip circumference and body fat percentage. This includes changes to your diet, eating and cooking habits as well as the key numbers like weight loss and inches reduced.
