Why Have A Nutrition Consultation?
A one-to-one consultation with one of our highly qualified nutritional therapists can make a big difference to symptoms that you may have been suffering for years. If you suffer from any of the following, we can probably help you:
These are sometimes called sub-clinical conditions, unlike the clinically defined illnesses which doctors generally treat with either medication or surgery. A nutritional therapist hopes to see patients when the earliest symptoms presents themselves. They carry out a diagnostic procedure and work towards a therapeutic goal. They want to find out what is causing your symptoms and work out what to do to make you better. Nutritional therapists can advise on healthy eating, and can put together eating plans to address a huge range of conditions from IBS to candida, from under active thyroid to infertility. The big difference is that they themselves investigate the symptoms and make a judgement on the most effective action plan.
What Happens In A Nutrition Consultation? To help your nutritional therapist prepare for your session, we ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire and return it to us. This enables research to be completed prior to your visit and ensures you receive maximum value from the session. We spend 90 minutes on your initial consultation, 10 times the length of a typical GP appointment, so there is plenty of time to go into detail about the causes of any symptoms you are suffering and suggest a highly personalised treatment plan to address them. Using the questionnaire as a basis for discussion, your consultation is used to build a complete picture of your medical and family history, areas of imbalance, current diet, environment and lifestyle. Your nutritional therapist will then work with you to agree a Personal Action Plan which typically consists of three elements:

It was a brilliant session and I learnt a lot about what I should and should not be eating." Rebecca Jackson, London Once you have followed your Action Plan for four to six weeks, we recommend a follow-up consultation to assess your progress. During this 45 minute discussion, any necessary adjustments to the Eating Plan are identified and, if relevant, the results of any diagnostic tests you may have taken are reviewed. The impact of any supplements can also be reviewed and, if necessary, adjustments made to your supplement plan. The rate of progress varies with individual cases, but patients are often aware of improvements within this initial six to eight week week period. The follow-up session costs £63.
"I can't thank you enough for your skill which is producing such wonderful results" Keith Robson, Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear Please call 0845 130 7382 and ask for a Nutrition Consultation Pack. What Exactly Is A Nutritional Therapist? This is the official definition of a Nutritional Therapist, as given by our standards body, the Nutritional Therapy Council: "Nutritional Therapists assess nutritional status and functional capacity. They recognise that each person's needs are unique, depending on a number of factors, from inherited strengths and weaknesses to the influence of diet, lifestyle and environment. Nutritional therapists work with patients with chronic health problems and provide advice on disease prevention and control. The nutritional therapist will take a comprehensive patient history and may use biochemical and other types of clinical assessment to formulate a treatment plan. In addition to dietary and nutritional advice, recommendations may include guidance on natural detoxification, methods to support digestion and absorption, procedures to promote colon health, and also the avoidance of ingestion or inhalation of allergens or toxins. Taking a whole systems approach, these protocols can impact on hormonal, neurological and immune function". |
