Let's Get Down To Business With Your Weight Loss Plan

LifeStyle Diet™ Phase 1

This is an intensive four-week phase which kicks off your programme with a bang:

Visit 1, Week 0 - a 90 minute consultation  Your first visit to our clinic is a friendly experience.  You are greeted warmly by one of our receptionists, all of whom have been complimented on their friendliness in our regular patient surveys. They will make you feel at home as soon as you step through the door.  Next you will meet your personal nutrition consultant for a 90 minute consultation during which your weight loss objectives are discussed and agreed. She will measure your height, weight, waist circumference, hips and body fat, then discuss any symptoms and issues you have with regard to weight loss.

Your current diet, eating and cooking habits will be reviewed, along with the medical history of yourself and your family and any medication you are taking.  Some of your goals may not be weight-specific, for example you can reduce your waist size simply by being more toned, without having to lose weight!

You will be given a detailed 25 page Eating Plan based on the latest thinking around Glycaemic Load, so that you eat healthy meals and snacks which make you feel full for longer. Your nutritionist explains the Personal Weight Loss™ Programme eating plan to you, and makes any adjustments based on your personal tastes. 

The Phase 1 LifeStyle Diet™ Eating Plan is explained in detail so you know what to eat for every meal and the healthiest snack options if you are hungry between meals. There are almost fifty pages of eating suggestions and recipes to keep you going through the month.

Your Nutritional Consultant will give you a blood test kit to complete and return to our specialist laboratories. The details of your 3 day food diary are discussed as these will be input to our special software programme and a 43 page dietary analysis report will be prepared before your second visit.

Visit 2, Week 1  - a 45 minute session during which the outcome of your dietary analysis report will be discussed, as well as gaining your initial feedback on how the Phase 1 Eating Plan is progressing.

Visit 3, Week 2 - a 45 minute session during which we screen you for intolerance to more than 220 foods and check 85 vitamin and mineral levels. For a complete list of the foods we screen you for please click here. It can hinder your weight loss programme if you are suffering food intolerances or lacking these essential vitamins and minerals.We also discuss the results of your blood test if they are available. We check progress with your eating plan and make adjustments if necessary.

Visit 4 , Week 4 - after two more weeks following your eating plan, the final 45 minute session of Phase 1 happens in the fourth week. This consultation is a summary of all the information we have learned from your dietary analysis, blood test, food intolerance screening and eating plan to see exactly what progress has been made and what we need to focus on during LifeStyle Diet™ Phase 2.

No other plan combines these elements to give you such a comprehensive start to a successful weight loss programme. Telephone and email support are also available between clinic visits to make sure everything that can be done

LifeStyle Diet™ Phase 2

We now move into the second phase of the LifeStyle Diet™, four vists spread across eight weeks. At each session you learn new information about factors which can affect weight loss - information which can help you achieve a permanent change in how you manage your eating plan to ensure you stay as slim as you can be

Visit 1, Week 1 - You start with a detailed explanation of the LifeStyle Diet™ Phase 2 eating plan and are given a fresh Diet Diary to capture your new eating habits.

It’s hard to remember everything that is discussed during a consultation, and you are bound to think of questions you wished you had asked while at the clinic. Don’t worry – we give you a special email address that ensures direct access to your nutritional consultant who can respond by email or, if more appropriate, by telephone.

As you come back to see us every week or two for a 45-minute consultation, you build a strong bond with ‘your’ nutritional consultant. This gives you a feeling of strength that helps you when you feel tempted to stray from the programme. We offer evening and Saturday appointments to help fit visits around your own schedule.

Regular Visits Are An Important Part Of Your Success

Each consultation is a 1:1 private session in the consulting room - so there is no need to worry about sharing your progress with everyone in a group! It is entirely your decision who you tell about the programme and the progress you are making.

These regular visits are crucial to your success - we monitor the progress of all our patients, and the most successful ones are the ones who keep in touch and visit us regularly.

In all follow-up sessions, your progress against the goals set since the previous session are reviewed, and new goals for the next period are agreed.

  • Healthy choices with carbohydrates - we all need carbs in our diet, but they need to be the right carbs. This discussion and handout help you make informed decisions when you are shopping, cooking or eating out. 
  • Protein choices - again, protein is a key part of the diet our body needs. We help you make the right choices both for your overall health and as part of your weight loss programme.    
  • The effects of stress. If you feel stressed, what is one of the most common ways you react? You eat, or you drink, or perhaps both! Stress makes your body want to horde calories and turns off your digestive system. By developing  ways of reducing stress you can see a great change in your ability to lose weight and keep it off.
  • Feeling good about yourself. While we do not pretend to be psychologists, how you feel about yourself is an important part of setting and achieving the right weight loss goals.
